He could be. But if the Wright from the Taylor fight shows up, then I agree... overrated ass Tall Paul will lose.

Why do you hate the big black spider for?.. He's got an entertaining style a phenomenal workrate, is tough, and has a hard set of fangs, he also beat Fraud's boogie-man, Margarita,... why the hate?... he'll suck the guts out of that hiding, monotonous turd.

For being the most avoided fighter on the planet Williams can get a lot of decent fights on HBO and Showtime. On the other hand Sturm and Pavlik (according to Don Rafael), Williams and Winky will rather fight each other than ever putting the name Abraham in their mouth.

I like Williams....he seems up for a challenge....he has such a physical advantage at 147 and even 154, yet he is prepared to give that up and test himself further by fighting a wiley operator like Winky at 160...

....fair play to him, it is a risk....it could backfire like it did on Pavlik....but i admire the way he wants to go out and pursue a fight like this when others would settle for defending their title against mandatories and complain that everybody is avoiding them

As for the fight, i think he wins. Wright has been very inactive, and looked slow vs Hopkins. I think Williams outworks him, and maybe even busts Winky up late on.

    Agree with all of this.

I did think Winky deserved the nod against Hopkins, but I'm in the minority. Regardless, he's in tough against Williams, I think.

    why?

The guy can't seem to land any bigger fights. Winky is still a good fighter and tricky to figure out.

The fight for Williams to make is the Margarito fight. But both Margarito and Arum say they don't have anything to prove in a rematch with Williams.:atu:

I agree. I quite like tall paul, and at 147/154 you're right, he'll win the majority of the time by size alone. For example, I'd pick him over Cotto not because I think he is a better fighter, but just because he is fucking huge at 147.

Credit to Paul for beign prepared to forfeit his massive advantages at welter/junior middle.

I don't know, I think a lot of this has to do with geting paid...which had a lot to do with Pavlik fighting Hopkins, as well.

If there were pay days available at 147 or 154, I doubt he'd be looking up the scale.

But Arum is, unfortunately and predictably, playing keep away with his fighters and a fight against another Haymon fighter isn't practical...which eliminates the other 147 champions.

The risk/reward/money is better against Wright than it is against Dzinziruk...which is the more natural fight to be made at 154.

Williams is the interim champ for Dzinziruk's title, just as Martinez is the interim for Forrest's title....and those are two of the best fights that can be made in the division.

    C'mon Paul! :partie:

If he wins this, he's a true Renaissance man. He needs to actually waylay his recent trend of trying to sit down on punches, and go back to the high volume gnat style. Wright will be infinitely more accurate, but you can't win landing 3 of 6 while another guy lands 22 of 114 each round :fightme:

i pick williams to win impressively on points. i can't see an inactive 37 year-old wright being competitive w/ a much younger and active fighter who will throw more punches than him.

if williams prevails, it looks like a potential fight against pavlik will no longer be overlooked as it was before.

Rick Reeno is reporting that an agreement has been reached and that both sides have accepted an even split of the purse (of between $2.75-3 million).

And it'll give Pavlik more reason to duck Abraham.

This fight's going to Mandalay Bay...and I guess they're looking for Andre Arlovski to supply the gate.

I think they are trying to insure that there are KO's on the undercard.

Depending on the ticket prices they´ll probably be lucky to do 5000.

They'll do 5000 but give away 4000 to the casino guests.

I am forced to agree in my heart with brother Reed.

I like the Winkster and as a fighter have mad respect for his ability to hang in there with the best of them. But frankly I don't want him to derail Arabham:lol: and yeah I know damn well he could! I don't see him beating Kessler who will outwork him... and have no interest in seeing him fight anyone in particular.
