I'm sure some of this had to do with De La Hoya and Hopkins-Calzaghe being on regular HBO.

Well, HBO needs to justify the ratings for having this event on "the regular" by doing huge numbers...as well as build up the Mayweather rematch.

They're milking the Golden Boy for as much as they can his "retirement" year.

I can't see how they can hype Forbes....give him any chance at all...

usually they have sport writers/trainers/manager talking about intangibles some fighter has that can help him win a fight....but FORBES has NO FUCKING CHANCE....

he is not a puncher.....speed isn't even close to DLH...he can't box with DLH..he can't try to brawl with DLH...slow feet...

    good chin...thats it...and at a lighter weight...

that sucks - i would've liked to have seen this fight. i'm not so sure Hatton has an easy time with Lazcano who is long and hits hard and knows how to survive.

here's betting he K h TFO with the first hook he lands on the chin. the guy's tiny compared to ODH. it's a joke of a fight. shows how desperate ODH is to get a win.

It is a joke of a fight.

it's been years and years since Oscar stopped this low in picking an opponent.

Couldn't he have at least fought an average welterweight?

The only oscar has any trouble with forbes is if he literally trains for a week or 2.

When's he gonna land that hook?

I don't think this will be a Gatti-type beatdown at all.

I was reading something about that in the LA Times, quoting Merchant and all.

I have absolutely no interest in watching that fight...which I can almost guarantee would have the worst undercard imaginable.

It would do great numbers, though.

DLH upholding Mexican honor and all that.

Most Mexican fans I know believe even if DLH does retire, he'd come back in 2-3 years to fight JCC Jr.

Perhaps the biggest money fight in the next 5-10 years.

No, but it might be a Gamache-type beatdown. :nono:

Oscar is fighting Forbes to prepare for Pacquaio. It's hard to fight smaller guys so he's warming up first.

Yeah Oscar really wants to fight Pacquiao and has said it numerous times. Pacquiao is just way too small for Dela Hoya, as is Forbes.

Pacquiao should make at least a $15 million purse if he did fight DLH which is more than most fighters make in their careers.

That's how the fight is being billed. Since MAB, Morales, and Marquez, all the best Mexican fighters at Pac's weight couldn't accomplish it, natural welterweight ODLH is going to play the role of "Mexican Hero" and try to beat Manny.

They will sell 1.5 million PPVs too.

DLH started at 130, but he is much bigger than Pac. Still, I gotta wonder if DLH wants to eat that much incoming. :dunno:

He won't have to, Manny is not really that aggressive anymore.

    Compare the 2 Barrera fights.

The fight shouldn't happen, the size difference is stupid.

I would abosolutely love it if Oscar ended up fighting Pac instead of Mayweather. It would serve Mayweather right for waiting around for Oscar and not fighting anyone.

Thats great that Hatton can sell tickets like that.

HBO bring the money, i bet Floyd made more money fighting Mitchell or Bruseles in half empty arenas thanks to HBO's money.
