1. HBO wouldn't want the fight. (They do now) 2. I don't want to give Witter a payday (he doesn't want one). 3. Its not appealing to the public (#1 and '2 140 pounders is what everyone want to see) 4. Get a belt and I'll fight him (WBC champ) 5. He insulted me, I don't want to fight him (Laughable). 6. He said "one day" to me at an awards ceremony.
hatton's a corporate bully kinda like roy and oscar in a sense where he has enough star power to pick and choose his opponents. there must be something about witter (besides his boxing ability) that hatton does not like about. even if the fight never comes to fruition, hatton will most likely leave the ring w/ more $ in the bank and better legacy, thus winning this domestic rivalry. there aren't any lucrative mega fight out there for witter besides the hatton fight, so he's doing the right thing by persistently calling him out. i guess i feel for the guy.

funny as much I think Hatton is an asshole..and Floyd whupped him like a two bit hoe.. Hatton would Smash Witter
yes attraction if you can get a junior interview, ask him to post here, tell him he has support here. ricky's avowal of some personal beef is irrelevant: the british fans want the fight, and their demand is far more important than any trivial personal beef. the british fans gave ricky his money, and ricky is proud of being in touch with the british fans - so he should give the british fans what they want.
From The SUN: RICKY HATTON has revealed why he will never fight Junior Witter — an awards-do insult. Hatton, 29, makes his light-welterweight comeback on May 24 against Juan Lazcano in Manchester after losing his unbeaten record to Floyd Mayweather. The Hitman has been taunted for years by Witter who now holds the prestigious WBC world title. Hatton was ready to bow to the pressure until the Bradford switch-hitter put his foot in it. Hatton said: “I was half contemplating fighting him but it all changed at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards in Birmingham. “They got me up, Joe Calzaghe, Enzo Maccarinelli, Clinton Woods and Witter. We all walked to the stage and I shook hands with them all. Witter leaned over to me and whispered ‘One day.’ “I just thought, ‘You’ve just peed that up against the wall there.’ I really was thinking about getting in the ring with him.†Witter, 34, defends his WBC belt against Tim Bradley in Nottingham on May 10.
"witter good hatton bad" ....is this the only thing that was programmed into you before you were put on this planet? :dunno:
Attraction would never post again. That or go back to those posts where he and his friend had a gay experience together.
Hatton should just fight the prick, it'll be a sellout in the UK. I've been hearing about this fucking matchup for years. The excuses from Hatton are just complete crap. I reckon Hatton is saving up Witter as his lucrative 'retirement' fight.
If Hatton retired without fighting Witter would it harm his legacy? This is an honest question and one that I would rather not get thrown into a stupid thread that illuminati made. Personally I have gone through the routine on this board many times. However, I am interested in the opinion of people on this board. Maybe I am too blind to it, but if Hatton retired without fighting Witter would that be OK with you, or would it be asking too much to ask the fans to forget about it? Obviously I feel it's unforgivable.
While it's undeniable that for whatever reason, Hatton is ducking Witter - no it wouldn't harm his legacy. There is no excuse for him not to fight Witter now, he should do it, and the way witter has improved and hatton has declined, he has a realistic chance of winning, and it could be a good fight. But seriously though, Witter is simply not regarded in the same light as fighters such as Tszyu and of course Floyd, Witter is hardly going down as an all time great, so it's something that would be forgotten quickly and hatton's legacy wouldn't suffer.
not sure yet how much it will harm his legacy.....if Tim Bradley goes out and sparks Junior in a couple of rounds then obviously it wont be such a big deal all of a sudden...... but assuming Witter stays where he's at, or indeed progresses further.....unless Hatton goes on and does better things, i think that yes, it could harm his legacy.... ...what Hatton should consider is that once he retires....everytime he does one of those after dinner speaches, he will be asked about Junior Witter.....does he want that following him?......20 years after he has retired...."hey ricky, why didn't you step up to the plate against witter?".....his reason that Witter bad mouthed him too much doesn't stack up against the reasons for the fight to happen.....#1 and 2 at the weight, both british....and a fight thatb the fans are calling for
Fair points. I just think that unless witter actually beats a big name opponent, ir bigger than vivian harris, he'll be quite quickly forgotten once he retires. And don't forget, the shitter is like 35, he's not going to be at the top of his game for long.
Why is Hatton rated so highly? The guy got beat by Collazo, embarrassed by Floyd. He beat up old men and lightweights. It's clear he's not that good. He clearly can't handle fighters who are a touch slick. It's hard to understand why people rate him so highly.
He beat one of the greatest champions in the history of the division and hasn't lost at 140 since. :dunno:
He fouled his way to a win over a 36 year old inactive Tszyu coming off a serious injury, who was just in it for the money IMO. What else has he done? nothing.
