Worst Big Budget movie that you've seen?

T2 is a great movie though. A classic. But yeah, the acting in the original was definitely better. The original is better period.

Titanic? Cheesy as Hell through first half with the stupid ass Jack/Rose romance, but I'll give it to Cameron, after the iceberg hits.... it became highly compelling.

 

Okay so the top losers are Avatar, John Carter, Cloud Atlas, Water World, Pearl Harbor and any Transformers film of your choosing. I saw everyone one of those films once and the only one I watched multiple times was Water World. Either way the only way to settle this is to list in order which film I would watch first over the others. So here's my list.

1.) Cloud Atlas - Kind of long but from what I saw I kind of enjoyed the story. In fact out of all these I think CA has the deepest most complex story so it doesn't live and die on just visuals.

2.) Water World - I agree with others here that's it's not nearly as bad as it's rep. In fact that should be obvious in the fact I've already seen it 3 or 4 times...willingly. In fact the opening sequence was pretty awesome even though the film went downhill pretty bad from there.

Side note* The first two were easy. The next 4 had me thinking hard picking one then changing my mind a few times. In other words these next four really sucked.

3.) John Carter - Couldn't decide which was worse: John Carter's overly long dialogue interactions with the aliens or Pearl Harbor's long drawn out double romance. Actually I could decide.

4.) Transformers - I hate them all equally but since the first one has the highest score on IMDB than I guess that one must be the best.

5.) Avatar - I hate this movie with a passion. The very atmosphere of it makes me sick to my stomach. It is far too long and the story is completely unoriginal. Even still, there's enough cool stuff that happens and enough outstanding visuals to easily put it ahead of PH.

6.) Pearl Harbor - It hurts (my selection) that I haven't seen this since the theater so it's hard to remember exactly how bad it was. I stand behind my pick though.

 

You guys are crazy. Avatar is the business!

 

Visually awesome. That's it. I didn't care about the characters at all. In fact I was rooting for the humans the whole time.

Yeah, and Shakespeare in Love once won an Oscar over Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line.

Hasn't anyone watched Eddie Murphy's The Adventures of Pluto Nash ? I have not, but that is the one most critics and people on the net pick as worst big budget fiasco ever. I watched like five minutes of it and couldn't go any further so I can't pass a judgment based on just five minutes.

 

Titanic was undeserving of winning best picture in the year it won. Anybody who knows movies knows Best Picture should have gone to LA Confidential, but Titanic won purely on popularity.

Having said that... Titanic is LIGHT YEARS better than Avatar. Light years! Titanic isn't a bad movie at all, just overrated. Avatar is not only overrated, it's a bad movie.

 

That film wasn't better than the other two in the eyes of heterosexual males, but it was still a good movie. Try again.

 

I watched LA Confidential at the movie theater based on its Oscar nominations and came out unimpressed. Good little film, but Best of Picture the Year against Titanic? No way, Jose!

Titanic is a bigger classic, but Avatar is a damn good film. 8/10

Titanic was a great film. Sure...the first hour is take it or leave it with the love affair between Rose and Jack (I still enjoyed that part though...not the love affair...but the dynamics between the 1st and lower classes) but from the moment the guy says "Iceberg..right ahead!" that film is pure brilliance!

The Matrix Revolution....BAD..>BAD...but on a second viewing it got slightly better. SO I might watch it again...


Transformers...ALL of 'em...TERRIBLE....heartbroken....but it was SHIT...still is SHIT today ALL Of 'EM.

Alexander....I HATE IT...but I still watch it everytime I come across it on Netflix. Just wish it was a better-told story...too much jumping from the present to the past...and too GAY...Alexander has Rosario Dawson huge tits in his face...n he wants lil fuckboy Leto or that other savage panchy pato guy...

I think that's my winner. Fucking HORRIFIC movie! I'd re-watch Avatar anyday over re-watching Alexander.

I don't usually watch big budget films and I don't watch a lot of movies but I've seen some memorable bad movies. One with Matthew Broderick and Meg Ryan that literally put me to sleep it was so boring. When I was about 9 or 10 I was taken to a father/son screening of a Star Trek film. That was some boring ass shit. I couldn't blame my dad since he didn't choose it. And I have no idea how I ended up in a theater watching Mortal Combat but that was another one that put me to sleep. Horrible, boring piece of shit!
