Tito, Shane AND Dela All Received Lb for Lb Recognition @ 1 Point, PRIMARILY Due to the Media's BOREDOM & Frustration w/Roy Jones Being # 1...

But the Fact is, After Beating Toney, Roy & Sweet Pea were Neck & Neck, then Roy Eventually Assumed the Pole Position...From Roughly '94-'95 UNTIL May '04, Roy Jones was THE BEST Fighter in the World, Lb for Lb....

Will There Be ANOTHER Roy Jones???...Probably Not...

Floyd is/was about as good & has been at least as frustrating. Will there be another? there's been one already.

Floyd's simply had more longevity than Roy, due to that fact that his style is less based on athleticism and more on skill. But prime for prime, he sure as HELL was not better.

Prime for prime, mid 90's Roy was arguably the BEST fighter to ever lace up gloves, and I say that without exaggerating.

Roy's been removed from his prime for 10 yrs now, and already people have forgotten how good he was.

Floyd is his physical prime struggled with Castillo, and was given problems by Judah. He was nowhere near as dominant as Roy, and when he did dominate, he looked like he was working harder to dominate than Roy had to.

Jones just made it look effortless.

Forget Jones, Floyd's not the virtuoso that prime Whitaker was either. Floyd's only edge on Sweet Pea is a cleaner lifestyle. If Floyd was a coke addict, he probably wouldn't be around right now either.

How virtuoso you look against B class guys isnt the measure of greatness, ultimately.

But fact is, as Hut pointed out, that Jones fought much lesser opposition overall compared to Floyd. It wasn't all his own fault, since the competition around 168-175 wasn't that great, but still it is different thing to look unbeatable against David Telesco than Michael Spinks. The Toney wipeout was damn impressive, but Toney also was stylistically a perfect opponent for Jones.

Don't get me wrong, Jones was probably better than Floyd and prime for prime he might actually be the best ever, but Floyd is not far behind him and he clearly has the better record

Roy Wiped Out B Class Guys MORE IMPRESSIVELY than Floyd Did, as Well as A Class Guys...

It's Funny How Guys like to Whip Out the White Gloves & Fine Toothed Comb when Assessing Roy's Resume...Toney was Toooo THIS...Hopkins was Toooo THAT...

At least Toney was at his best weight of 168.

It can be argued that your hero Pea's biggest wins came over Chavez, who had no business at 147, and Nelson, who had no business at 135.

See how that works? Vrtually ANY performance can be discredited. Most great performances ARE discredited.

Floyd's best career performance is STILL to this day the Corrales fight, and Corrales was terribly drained. The difference being, Toney>>>>>>>>Corrales.

It is not that at all. Just that Floyd's record is clearly better, there has been more competition around his weight class and Floyd has fought them more.

Jones did 'wipe out' class A guy in Toney and clearly beat class A guy in Hopkins, nobody denies that. Also because of the size difference you could count Ruiz as a legendary performance too. Floyd clearly has more legit top contenders in his resume and in his best weight class (super feather) he dominated them as easily as Jones

Guys with physical gifts (speed or power) always look better vs C & B class than methodical A class guys. Doesnt mean they beat the methodical guys.

i think Roy beats any Toney because A) he was better B) styles favour him 100%, but it would have been a bit hairier if Toney had been healthy. I think he would have beaten a more seasoned Hopkins too, but again it would have been closer. Both fights slightly flatter him.

Come on, this is no personal matter. Klitshkos have NOTHING to do with this.

I guess you missed it when I just said that Jones probably was better than Floyd, prime for prime, but Floyd's resume is better. You can't really dispute that. And yes, many past champions have better resumes compared to Klitshkos, even though Klitschkos would probably beat them. There, you heard me saying it, so focus on this matter next

Chavez and Whitaker fought at a catchweight... Nelson would have whupped the ass of basically any other lightweight in the world at that time... neither guy was sweating off 30 pounds or whatever a few weeks before the fight

You really want to compare comp between Whitaker and Roy?

Floyd's comp at 130 alone is better than Roy's whole ledger

My point is that virtually ANY great performance can be discredited.

How is it Roy's fault that Toney was always a lazy fuck? It didn't change the fact that Toney was the favorite going in, that Toney was top 2 P4P going in, and Roy made him look like a sparring partner.

Your PERSPECTIVE Differs, when it's a Klitschko Thread...So Yes, they have EVERYTHING to Do w/THIS Matter...

For What it's Worth, YES, Floyd's Resume is Better...REED Would Be Foolish to Dispute that...But Hell, Dela's Resume is BETTER than Roy's Too...Doesn't Mean he's BETTER or On Par w/Roy as a Fighter...

For the record though, I wouldn't pick anybody in history over Floyd at 130.

Just like I wouldn't pick anybody in history over Roy at 168.

I'd argue the Bernard he beat was far from fully developed as a fighter... he was nowhere near as clever as he would later be and I'd argue that Toney's skills are irrelevant considering his physical condition... I think Roy beats them both anyway, even at their bests, but as Hut said, the results as they stand flatter Roy a bit... the fights would have been closer with a healthy Toney and a more crafty, evolved Hopkins
