beat me to it! but it was my understanding she stopped it because corrales was at risk of asphyxiation.....
Fuck me.....I'd say Meldrick Taylor was standing outside a TV Repair shop watching that fight breaking his balls laughing........
sad thing is he was most likely laughing without any idea or recollection why the asphyxiation explanation is one of the most perplexing i have ever heard from a doctor and i think it was complete bullshit
But Baldomir WAS the real, lineal welterweight champion. And Floyd didn't have a loss to avenge vs. Judah like Manny did vs. Morales. Floyd unquestionably should have fought Baldomir before Judah.
Apparently NOT, Since All ANYBODY (Boxing Fans/Media) Does is BITCH, MOAN & CRITICIZE Floyd in Hindsight, for Facing Baldomir.... REED:shit:
If the Boxing GOD'S had a Sense of Humor, Terdsak Would Not Only B a World Champion, but 1 of THE Best Fighters in the World, Lb for Lb.... As a Half Assed Boxing Writer that's NOT the Least Bit Afraid to "Go There" in his Articles, REED OPENLY Roots for Terdsak... REED:mj:
It's very simple, but something that will never dare be addressed since Hopkins is a mythically overhyped "old school brilliant warrior master boxer tactician",.. the truth is,.. Hopkins entire game revolves around backpeddling and counter-punching... he is not a come-foward pressure fighter, and in the rare instance that he desperately becomes one, he's not very good, his game revolves around sprinting, counterpunching, and clinching/fouling,.. if an opponent with superior handspeed remains on the very fringe of the trading grounds and does not attempt to blindly follow bitchkins into traps and potshots,.. we have Jermaine Taylor win x 2,.. The truth is, Hopkins only has half the assets required to be a great fighter,.. he is scared to come forwards, pressure and premptively engage,.. he's a runner, and Jermaine neutralised that perfectly and put the icing on the cake when he delivered an unorthodox downwards right hand that scared Hopkins out of his illegal back and brain stem fold on the inside, sent him reeling back into the ropes hurt, and clutching desperately.. bon apetite,.. the 'master' ...was bitterly exposed.
The 1990's Version of Hopkins is Nearly the POLAR OPPOSITE of the Fighter U're Describing...180 Degree's of DIFFERENCE...The 1st Echols Fight is 1 of the FEW Times U Saw the 90's Hopkins RETREATING... Similar to Marvelous Marvin Hagler, there were MORE Dimensions to Bernard Hopkins' STYLE than he's Given Credit for... REED:Lok:
He'd put his head down and wing these weak awkward little hooks earlier in his career which might have been adequate to beat up scrubs, (It was barely adequate to beat up Mercado)... and then,... the 'greatness' came out from Hopkins,.. he learned his lesson,.. became a chronic eye searer,.. when pressure and aggression is the secret to beating Jermaine Taylor,.. what happenned to the so called magnificent brilliant flawless courageous warrior?... The truth is,.. his 'forward mode' is weak, or non-existant especially at the top level, when Jermaine had his trademark gassing/ stuttering phase late in thier first fight where it was a virtual shut-out up til that point ::,.. Hopkins only answer was a nervous, looping overhand right where he seemed to duck his head below belt level in fear of being hit while throwing it,..typically glorified as "brilliance" ofcourse. Strict-counterpunchers are given the most credit amongst american fighters, but Hopkins wasn't quite fast enough to rely on strict counter-punching alone,.. and that showed in the Taylor fights, he needed a 'masterful' dimension to walk forward and have a fucking fight,...but he had none,..and was 'shockingly' EXPOSED.
