It feels like a combination of two things to me. The first is that he is supremely skilled and that he is widely reported to be the best. This makes people tune in. The second is that he is a complete cunt. People tune it hoping to see him punched out.

Not to mention after making his name against Oscar and Hatton he didn't fight for close to two years.

24/7 was huge for Floyd. Everyone I knew watched that shit and wanted to see Floyd lose.

This, in a nutshell, is Floyd's "Business Model."

    It's genius.

Not to mention the marketing. When you're walking around town and everywhere you hear "Fight of the century"...obviously you want to tune in to see wht the hype is about. Just like non fans who never watched boxing except Tyson. Or non NFL fans who watch the superbowl

The Gatti fight was what introduced him into the mainstream consciousness.. the shittalking and antics before it, and the DLH fight was what made him an A side fighter. Then the Hatton fight, the 24/7 leading up to it, Dancing with the Stars.. the flossing with money, cars, hoes.

Then the stated "retirement" along with the buzz of the Pacquiao fight. Coming back and beating the guy who beat Pac, I watched that fight (Marquez) in the theater & it was packed. I also saw the Ortiz fight on closed-circuit in the theater.. it was packed with black dudes who were cheering on Floyd, and the whole theater went nuts when Ortiz headbutted him, and then ABSOLUTELY APESHIT when Floyd knocked him out.

He's also been very smart about who he's associated with, names that brought him mainstream attention.. 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber. Hanging around with these guys in public, on MTV Cribs, and all that.. he made himself part of the hip-hop culture.

Finally, his and Pacquiao's names being tied together so frequently brought him a TON of attention. In a way, it kept him and Pac both in the public eye.

there must be some who like the guy, i 1 saw out of 4 people (18-49) wearing that TMT shit. mayweather jr claims to make 10 million a year on that clothing and it seems plausible.

Damn Reed, you were gone throughout the whole Pac/May lead-up/showdown. What happened? What was your impression of the fight?

Bad thread, a lot of fighter already pimped the game. Ottke, Bute, Tyson (in his later years), Jones, Calzaghe are all recent examples that comes to mind. Floyd ain't the first one, he just took it to another level. And it's not like the promoters (Haymon is basically Floyd promoter) and tv networks didn't made a bundle of $$$ on this, so there's no karma in this case, as it's only the fans who got robbed (unless you want to argue that the fans have been the one exploiting the boxers !!!)

I kept telling everyone I know Floyd is going to win and win easy. I felt like he could stop pac and I think he could have and I think his dad thought so too.
But, I'll give pac credit for being a little more reserved. He settled down right in the righ after Floyd landed a hard right hand
    I think though everyone knew...
The only people I know that said anything were pac lovers for one reason or anotherl.

This isn't exactly news ever since Floyd's slave-wage comment what 15 years ago he's been clear to everyone he's about a)the money b)the W and doesn't give a shit about his fans his opponents or the women he beats.

    STFU LOK!
Your faggot ass was pulling for Pacman in that fight regardless of what BS you're spewing on here. I read your past messages on here and know very well that you wanted to see Fraud get KTFO. When Pacman had Fraud on the ropes in the third, you were reaching climax

I can't think of a elite "fighter" who fights so little in his fights.
